Tezos (XTZ) has been added to the new release of Atomic Wallet
Another cryptocurrency gets listed on the platform created by Changelly’s former CEO
Self-amending cryptocurrency Tezos (XTZ) has reportedly become the next crypto asset to join the portfolio of multi-cryptocurrency wallet Atomic. The announcement was made yesterday via the official Twitter account of the aforementioned wallet.
“#Tezos is available in the multi-asset @AtomicWallet! Manage your $XTZ in our secure and simple interface. Download app and enjoy! http://AtomicWallet.io” reads the tweet.
The news was also forwarded to Tezos’ founder Arthur Breitman by the creator of the Atomic wallet and former CEO of Changelly, Konstantin Gladych. “Hey @ArthurB & @breitwoman, I'm former @Changelly_team CEO. Would love if you have a look at @atomicwallet, my new project. We've added @tezos support. Hopefully will make $XTZ available for our #AtomicSwap DEX, as well.”
Atomic Swaps coming to Tezos
The Atomic Wallet team also commented on their intentions of adding atomic swap support for the XTZ, in response to a tweet by Arthur in which he stated that they have been also experimenting with atomic swap contracts.
What’s interesting here is that the conversation implies there is the possibility of a collaboration between Tezos and Atomic Wallet to implement the promising cross-blockchain trading feature – which could be a crucial step in the path to rule out the need for third-parties and middlemen to complete an exchange between different cryptocurrencies.
This piece of technology, still in development, is looking to be the key element for fully decentralized exchanges, by allowing two people to trade their different cryptocurrencies without having to go through a process of registering and turning in your personal data to a third-party.
And in order to ensure both traders are fulfilling their end of the bargain, the atomic swap is backed by Hashed Time-Locked Technology (HTLC), which is a conditional payment protocol that generates a cryptographic proof of payment used to unlock the coins to be received, once it has been confirmed safe receipt.
As of yet, the Atomic Wallet has atomic swap support for Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and QTUM (QTUM). A few weeks ago, TokenTops reported the addition of Decred (DCR) to the platform, and although the cryptocurrency is already atomic-swap compatible by itself, it is yet to be added for the wallet.
