Tezos issues grants to three mobile developers

The money will help support their projects on the Tezos blockchain

The Tezos Foundation is issuing three grants to several mobile app developers, in hopes of making the process easier for them and encourage them to keep improving the platform with their projects. The announcement was made via Tezos’ Twitter account and website.

“Three more grants issued! @AckeeCZ, @papersDev, and @luizMilfont will receive grants to help make it easier for developers to build mobile applications on #tezos and improve accessible and user-friendly secure key management,” reads the tweet published today, October 4.

According to the foundation, two companies and one developer will be the three recipients of the funds allocated by Tezos to promote the development of apps and tools to support the blockchain ecosystem. The companies are Ackee and Papers, while the individual is an active contributor named Luiz Milfont.

Ackee – a mobile development startup located in Berlin and Prague, is going to build a Tezos development kit for iOS. This way, it aims to facilitate the creation of application for this operating system that run or interact with the Tezos blockchain.

For its part, Switzerland-based Papers is the company that created AirGap, a multi-crypto wallet with support for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and ERC-20 Tokens, Ethereum Classic (ETC), Litecoin (LTC), Zcash (ZCH) and Aeternity (AE). Its two device approach allows for the use of a second smartphone with no connection to any network to handle the private keys, thus ensuring their safety. With the grant, AirGap will make their libraries open-source and available as a dev toolkit.

Lastly, Luiz Milfont – a Brasilian IT developer – was selected for the third grant due to his contributions to the Tezos ecosystem. He is the man who released the TezosJ SDK library, which allows developers to create Android applications that work together with the Tezos blockchain, more easily, and with the funds, he is expected to further release more libraries that will make development of applications on Tezos more seamless.

“The Tezos Foundation’s core mission is to support the long-term success of the Tezos protocol and ecosystem. By funding projects imagined by scientists, researchers, developers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts, the Foundation encourages decentralized development and robust participation,” the Foundation concludes.
