McIntyre: “Ethereum Classic (ETC) is the most undervalued blockchain”
The former Vice President of Morgan Stanley advocates for the currently 16th largest crypto asset by market cap — Ethereum Classic.
Donald McIntyre, who is a founder of blockchain-related blog Etherplan, has recently argued that Ethereum Classic is like the underdog “in the most valuable niche” of the entire crypto sector. His argument comes after a tweet (by himself) explaining that the ETC has an astonishing, privileged market positioning in a very valuable place.
“Ethereum Classic has an incredibly unique market positioning in an extremely valuable niche,” he said, while sharing a diagram to support his statement. McIntyre explains that the only major blockchain network that happens to be both full Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Turing Complete, is Ethereum Classic, and because it will always be PoW and its coin supply won’t ever change, it makes this blockchain network perfectly fitting for decentralized computing.
This sparked an argument with several Twitter users that disagree with his opinion. One in particular argued that the aforementioned crypto network was “too niche” that no one was currently developing it, and that a blockchain network should not be abandoned once it has been set up, to which McIntyre replied (in a series of tweets) that ETC has, indeed, a “vibrant community”.
Among the dev teams and entities he cited to sustain his claim are ETCDEV – a Switzerland-based team of computer engineers working full-time on Ethereum Classic core development, IOHK – whose founder believes that ETC is like Bitcoin in its early days, and has great value, ETC Labs, Grayscale, and ETC Cooperative.
Additionally, he brought into the discussion the recent developments on this crypto network, such as the recently-released Emerald SDK for building dapps on ETC; and the Orbita sidechains system that would help ETC to scale through Layer-two systems, instead of interfering with the mainnet.
“For all those reasons and more, I think ETC must be the most undervalued blockchain in the most valuable niche in the whole crypto industry,” he asserted.
