Dash demonstrates payments with a new POS solution
It will be released first in Venezuela
A new Point of Sale (POS) solution using Dash (DASH) as its base cryptocurrency is about to see the light for the Latin American market, starting with Venezuela. Dash Help – world’s first support center for the aforementioned cryptocurrency and its platform, has recently uploaded a video in which its Co-Founder, Lorenzo Rey, demonstrates the use of this brand new payment solution for merchants.
During the Dash Colombia conference that took place on October 27, in Medellín, the entrepreneur was shown introducing the new devices that will be the first generation of crypto POS using this digital asset. These new solutions were developed by EletroPay, a Brazilian blockchain startup, and will keep improving thanks to the joint effort between the company and Lorenzo.
In the video, Lorenzo describes one of the several models that (presumably) will be available at launch. The superior one has an E-Paper display that shows a QR Code for the merchant’s address – which is also displayed in its alphanumeric format – that also has the amount of DASH to be paid, and a timer for sending the funds. A sound chip can be configured to play ringtones or indicate the amount received, and it also comes with a receipt printer for better control of the purchases by the merchants.
Then, to demonstrate the functioning, Lorenzo scans the QR code displayed on the device and send the funds indicated by it. A few seconds later, the machine beeps repeatedly, indicating that the funds were successfully received and printing the receipt with the information of the purchase.
“Imagine going to the restaurant and having one of these devices on the table – you can easily pay directly in the table without needing to go to the cashier to pay. It’s a beautiful device!” Lorenzo said.
As stated above, several models have been developed and depending on their specifications, some will be cheaper than others. This is to ensure that any merchant can afford one of these devices. No shipping date has been revealed, though.
