Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) now accepted by hipster brewery Brewdog

A BCH giveaway is planned for the opening of its new branch in Canary Wharf, London

Scottish firm Brewdog, well known in the U.K. for its chain of pubs “for punks”, is opening a new branch in London’s financial hub of Canary Wharf, and it comes with good news for the crypto community. For the first time, patrons of this hipster brewery will be able to pay with cryptocurrencies – specifically, with Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

The announcement was made via Brewdog’s official blog. “BrewDog Canary Wharf, which opens its doors at 12pm on Friday October 19th – will accept Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash as payment.” According to them, the reason behind this decision comes from the similarities betweent them and crypto assets.

“At Brewdog we have worked our entire lives to challenge perceptions and be bold and uncompromising; the developers and miners of cryptocurrency are exactly the same,” the company said, adding that it was only natural to adopt them as payment method, especially since their new branch is opening at the heart of London’s financial hub – home for financial giants such as Barclays and HSBC.

Along with the grand opening of their new settlement, Brewdog announced that a BCH giveaway will also take place that same day. The first 100 attendees will receive random amounts of this cryptocurrency, ranging from £12 to £100, so they will need to have downloaded and installed a BCH wallet in order to receive the digital assets.

While this is going to be the first time this company will experiment with cryptocurrencies, they already have high expectations on the success of this new move. So much, they are hoping to extend this payment method to all their branches.
