Former Football Star Launches His Own Token
Celebrities and cryptocurrencies
With the popularization of cryptocurrency in the mainstream world, we can see more and more influencing people supporting particular projects. Floyd Mayweather, a very famous and successful boxer, has already been known to publicly support cryptocurrencies in general, as well as some ICOs. He admitted to owning multiple tokens, which can surely drive new people and his fans to learn more about cryptocurrencies and maybe even buying them.
Micheal Owen, who is a former star of Liverpool football club from England, has partnered with Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) to create and issue his own cryptocurrency. OWN Coin will be named after his name. They will be used to buy merchandise, as well as for the donations to the charities chosen by the athletes.
Global Crypto Offering Exchange
GCOX is platform, which allows celebrities to create their own cryptocurrencies and use them as "Celebrity Tokens". Such tokens can be used by their fans to pay for merch or exclusive content and services. The developers behind the project claim that it is "the worlds first exchange helping celebrities create and list their own cryptocurrencies." However, we've seen other similar ideas and projects which allow to create easily your own tokens.
TokenStars, which has conducted their ICO phase recently is one of such projects. They aim to connect athletes, singers, moviestars with their fans, but they also put a great effort into the promotion and development of raising stars and promising artists.
It is becoming more and more popular for celebrities and influencers to take part in various cryptocurrency related project, sometimes by simply promoting them and being official supporter of the project, or as we see in this case, by even creating their own tokens. Such action can surely help develop the crypto world.
